Find Your State SBDC

Small Business Development Centers are one of the best first stops for a founder who needs practical help but is not ready to hire a consultant. The SBA says SBDCs provide individualized business advising and technical assistance across business planning, operations, financial management, marketing, accessing capital, technology, exporting, and growth. The national program reaches all 50 states through 63 lead networks and more than 800 service locations.

SBDC advising is generally no-cost, while some training may carry a fee. Services, eligibility, locations, and booking systems change. Confirm current details with the state network or the official national locator before relying on them.

What to ask an SBDC for

Make the first session useful

SBDC network in every state

Some large states use multiple regional lead networks. California and Texas are listed with each regional network shown by America's SBDC. If a state link changes, use the America's SBDC national locator or the SBA SBDC locator and search by ZIP code.

The operating rule

Use the SBDC as an external review layer, not as a substitute for ownership. Arrive with a defined decision, disclose the real numbers, verify legal and tax questions with licensed professionals, and leave with named actions and dates. The value is not the meeting itself; it is the better decision and completed follow-through.
